SIX DECISIONS.
Employee-owned since 2011, which is the reason a director will tell a client that a scheme should not be built. There is no shareholder waiting for the turnover, so the honest answer costs us nothing that we mind losing.
Founded in Amsterdam by two structural engineers who wanted to build what they drew, with eleven people and one civic contract.
Rotterdam opened for marine and lock work, after four years of subcontracting the parts of a job that happened below the waterline.
First station contract. The possession-planning discipline the whole infrastructure portfolio now runs on was written that year, mostly at night.
Eindhoven opened to serve the process and semiconductor plants, and with it the survey capability that millimetre work needs.
Own formwork, rebar and concrete crews brought back in-house after a decade of subcontracting them, which cost money for two years and then stopped.
Four hundred and twelve people, eighteen live sites, and the Meridian platform hall going up over a railway that has not closed once.

WHO THEY ARE.
Just over a quarter of the company holds an engineering qualification, and rather more than that can operate a vibrating poker. Both numbers matter: a practice that only designs cannot price a night shift, and a practice that only builds will accept a detail it should have refused.

Structural engineer. Ran the Wester Lock job and still reads every risk register before it goes out.

Owns the design check. Has stopped three of our own schemes at the last gate and been right each time.
Sanne Doorn
DIRECTOR, INFRASTRUCTURE / SINCE 2009
Wrote the possession planning discipline. Currently lives in a site cabin beside the Meridian platform hall.
Joost Nagel

Came from process plant commissioning, which is why the Eindhoven jobs hand over the way they do.
Ilse Kruit

Has the authority to stop any site in the company without asking anybody, and has used it.

Responsible for the fifteen working day tender, and for the fact that the risk register is an appendix rather than a footnote.

Lost time injury frequency across every site in the company, measured over the last twelve months and published here whether or not it flatters us. Anybody on any Arcstone site can call a stand-down without asking permission, and nine of them were called last year.
